What is a silica brick?

Silica brick is made of quartz stone material, SiO2 content is more than 93%, it has acid slag corrosion resistance and high high temperature strength. The load softening start temperature is 1620~1670°C. silica refractory brick will not deform after long-term use at high temperatures, and have low thermal shock stability. This residual expansion will tighten the joints and ensure that the masonry has good airtightness and structural strength.

The melting point of tridymite is about 1670℃, while the load deformation temperature of fused silica brick fluctuates between 1640-1680℃, which is close to the melting point of tridymite. What is the function of silica in brick?

In the glass industry: lightweight fused alumina silica fire brick are used for heat insulation of glass kiln domes, reducing heat loss and increasing the efficiency of the melting process.
